Dear Friends,
In an effort to raise some cash to help out our friend Soren
DeSelby, who's on
the long road to recovery from a stroke, we are doing a
Benefit Evening for him
at the Stonewall Inn on Monday, November 24 starting around
7pm and going until
closing. Ricky Ritzel
and Kimlee Hicks will be performing, there'll be guest
appearances by some of your piano bar favorites, and of
course it's always an
open mike. There'll
be a buffet for a nominal charge and a donation bucket to
help Soren and Velma offset their mounting expenses. Velma will also be giving
out useful information on stroke prevention and blood
pressure screening.
We're also putting together a "Piano Bar Calendar"
for 2009. The new year is
almost here, and we all need a new calendar, right? We know some of you have
great photos of our piano bar community, in every season and
situation. You
will of course be credited for your photos. On the calendar itself, you can buy
space on your birthday, an anniversary or any other
monumental day, or just buy
a space to send Soren a get-well wish. We'll be taking orders at the benefit
party at the Stonewall on November 24, or you can e-mail

Obviously JPEGs are easier, but If you've got some classic
photos from before
the digital age, send them (I'll return them - or send
copies if you think
