MAC nominated composer & singer KEVIN RAY will celebrate the release of his new CD Speak Now, on Tuesday, May 5th at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. He will be joined on stage by Jeff Washburn & Brandon Ellis, with special guests, including Gabrielle Stravelli. Ray, whose work has been seen & heard from venues as diverse as theatres & federal courtrooms, to film & TV, will present an evening with a full band performance of songs from Speak Now, as well as Kevin’s upcoming electric record & his full length musical, The Last Word, about jazz musicians in Los Angeles in the 1940's.
KEVIN RAY’s unique style of piano based pop/rock derives from growing up on artists like Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Joni Mitchell & Billy Joel, mixed with elements of theatre, jazz & soul music.
In January 2008, more than 20 up & coming singers performed a musical revue of his work, Songs from the Magic Trash Can at the Beechman. His songs have been featured in the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids Fundraiser Unsung, alongside award winning Broadway composers Andrew Lippa & Laurence O’Keefe & were featured in last year’s independent film Zerophilia & MTV’s “Made.” His previous releases Karaoketown & Radio Friendly can be found on iTunes and CDBABY.
Kevin is currently musical director at Ellen's Stardust Diner, where he produced, wrote & recorded Seasoned Greetings, a CD of original holiday songs performed by Ellen’s world famous wait staff. The CD won him critical acclaim & a MAC nomination for the song “Fat Christmas.”
