The new season of the Tudor City Greens FREE outdoor concert series continues on Tuesday, July 6th at noon (rain date: Wednesday, July 7th). This event will feature performers from Broadway and the New York City cabaret scene. The concert will be hosted by Tudor City resident, Broadway and cabaret performer, Raissa Katona Bennett (Phantom of the Opera, Chess).

In its latest in a series of free seminars for its members ($10 for non-members), MAC, the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs, will explore the topic of reviews and reviewers, with a panel of several of those critics. “The Reviewers Speak Up!”-- It’s this Saturday afternoon, June 26, at 2pm at the Metropolitan Room.

After several forays into contemporary pop, Eric Michael Gillett turns his attention to classic songs from the Great American Songbook in a tribute to one of America's most beloved composers, Harold Arlen.

Got talent? The Metropolitan Room is still accepting inquiries from singers as possible contenders in the third annual MetroStar competition. The announced deadline to be considered is June 30. Winners have a golden opportunity; an all-expenses paid run at the prestigious nightclub, including publicity, professional guidance and a CD recording of the show. All chosen participants have the chance to be seen and sing for New York audiences, who will cast their votes along with the permanent and guest judges.

On June 16, Broadway's Doreen Montalvo will host a special benefit for "Help Is On The Way Today." Ladies Night at The Metropolitan Room will feature performances by Jene Hernandez, Kimberly Reid Dunbar and Ilene Kristen (Broadway and Off-Broadway star, currently seen as Roxie Balsom on ABC's "One Life To Live") and Hosted by Doreen Montalvo. The evening will feature each lady in their own three-song set as well as group numbers. "Help Is On The Way Today" is non-for-profit that helps and assists children living with HIV and AIDS in New York City.

Publisher's Note: Having had some experience in the past with presenting brunches, I feel confident to say that the new brunch program at Kitano, featuring Tony Middleton, has all the makings of success. The room is light and airy and perfect in its decor. The food is good and plentiful. The trio of Tony Middleton, Jesse Elder on Piano and Kenji Yoshitake on Bass, sound great in the space and Mr. Middleton's warm personality makes the whole thing a great package.

Metropolitan Room's third annual "MetroStar Talent Challenge" kicks off on July 12. Applications are being accepted through June 27, and the prize package is worth over $15,000. The Nightlife and Bistro Award-winning Metropolitan Room is accepting applications for the 2010 “MetroStar Talent Challenge” through Sunday June 27. This year’s jury and audience-voted, elimination-round competition for singers runs for eight consecutive Mondays, from July 12 through August 30.
