Singer/music and food entrepreneur, ELLEN KAYE, grew up in the nooks and crannies of the Russian Tea Room, which her family owned in its heydey from 1947 to 1996. Theater and movie stars populated her world along with socialites, political movers and shakers and all the eccentrics this great city has to offer. Her quintessential New York origins inform her fearless, layered interpretations of many favorite songwriters of the 20th and 21st Centuries as she performs "Ice Wine: songs for dark winter nights" at The Metropolitan Room in January and February. Music by Annie Lennox, Dar Williams, Bruce Springsteen and Rickie Lee Jones, among others, will be on tap. Joining Kaye will be Musical Director and arranger Ethan Fein on Banjo and Guitar; Benjamin Brown: bass; Claire Daly: saxophones, flute, clarinet; Cleve Douglass: vocals; Ricky Martinez; drums.

Much of Kaye's repertoire will draw on her two recent recordings: "Ice Wine: songs for Christmas and dark winter nights" and "3AM...the dogs, the milkman and me"
Kaye began her music career singing in boites about town. Early on she was given the great opportunity to be a part of the Tea Room’s often mentioned and much-missed cabaret series. She has performed at a broad range of New York City and out of town venues including Carnegie Hall, The Iridium, Town Hall and the original Monkey Bar.
She still has the restaurant business in her blood. Kaye is the founder and CEO, along with her partner Seth Goldman, of Moscow 57 LLC, a thriving catering and entertainment company specializing in Russian Central Asian cuisine. They have plans to open Moscow 57, the restaurant, in the near future, and are looking for a venue in the theater district.
“Ice Wine: songs for Christmas & dark winter nights” and “3AM…the dogs, the milkman & me” are available on itunes, cdbaby, and amazon.com.
