Jenna Esposito has done it again! Monday, March 22, Jenna Esposito (2008 and 2009 Manhattan Association of Cabaret Nominee for Best Female Vocalist) demonstrated once again that she is a force to be reckoned with when she steps in front of a microphone. This phenomenal entertainer who brought the work of Connie Francis into the forefront of modern cabaret with her Connie Francis tribute: To Connie…Love, Jenna, has yet another hit on her hands. In the intimacy of Feinstein’s, arguably the best cabaret room in the city,Jenna presented her new show: That’s Amore: Jenna Sings Love, Italian Style. The show was presented by Patsy’s Italian Restaurant with the Executive Chef and co-owner, Sal Scognamillo, taking over the kitchen. Like a fine wine, the pairing of Patsy’s with Jenna’s new, show only added to the prodigious evening.
Jenna Esposito held us in her grasp from the moment she entered the room. Her grace, charm, and beauty are mesmerizing and unsurpassed. Once she begins to sing, time stands still. Ms. Esposito exhibits perspicacious judgment, reads a room with intuitive radar, and is always on point. Her pithy banter is refreshing in this day and age. While most cabaret performers force the audience to listen to maudlin anecdotes, Ms. Esposito is sagacious at being terse. The collaboration between herself and Lennie Watts (Director) represents excellent craftsmanship in the art of structuring a show. The elysian musical arrangements by Fortune Esposito (Musical Director) left me awestruck. Mr. Esposito galvanizes the show with his command of musical language. I’ve heard most of the songs in this show a million times, but Mr. Esposito makes them fresh, enticing,and gives Jenna a solid platform from which to work. The show is tight, polished, and entertaining. Bravissima!
