I recently read a piece of a review about jazz singer Whitney James by fellow CD reviewer Philip Booth of The St Petersburg Times. He said about Whitney's new CD project: ''.....A startlingly impressive and mature debut CD....." Nuff said!! Whitney not only can turn a musical phrase with complete authority and artistic presence, but she has featured a wonderful trumpet-eer,
one Ingrid Jensen who only adds a cogent impact to an already successful CD project. In the area of vocalise, Whitney asserts herself with vigor and a certain perpetual flow of passion, feeling and total abandom in her vocal delivery. Nothing hum-drum here. On the contrary, this CD abounds with an underpinning of both instrumental and vocal beauty, gentleness, and sensitiveness.
