Tonight, Monday, June 8, 2009, which was to be a celebration of the legendary Les Paul's 94th birthday, finds Mr. Paul unexpectedly in the hospital undergoing tests. The celebration will go on with Grammy Award-winner Jose Feliciano & guitarist/songwriter Bernie Williams, who will fill in for the guitar legend, inventor of the electric guitar & architect of rock 'n roll, at Iridium Jazz Club.
They will be joined by the Les Paul Trio, John Colianni on piano, Lou Pallo on guitar & Nicki Parrott on bass. Recognized as the first Latino artist to cross over into the English music market, Feliciano
has been awarded over forty-five Gold & Platinum records; has won sixteen Grammy nominations, earning him six Grammy Awards & is in receipt of countless prestigious awards the world over.
Bernie Williams has just released his second CD, Moving Forward, which embraces his early influences of salsa & merengue, while also reflecting a unique mixture of classical and jazz guitar topped-off with additional Latin rhythms. Moving Forward features performances by Dave Koz, Jon Secada & a very special live performance with Bruce Springsteen & Patti Scialfa. The former New York Yankee superstar's last album garnered critical acclaim & was featured on the Billboard Top 100.
